The prehistoric village of Sant Agustí and Es Coloms cave (Es Migjorn Gran)

We will begin our visit by going down into the Binigaus ravine where the impressive Es Coloms cave is hidden, together with the secluded Polida cave.  From there we will follow a footpath up to the talaiotic village of Sant Agustí, which holds one of the gems of Minorcan archaeology: a talaiot, which is a monumental stone tower, with an interior chamber. After thousands of years it still stands held up by its great stone column and original wooden beams.

This village, which has never yet been excavated, is a clear example of the monumental archaeological remains we find scattered all over the Minorcan countryside.
